Hey y'all! I wanted to do something different with my character interviews, so from now on, you'll be getting magazine style interviews from my fictional unverise named the Rose Gazette!
First up is Bakari Wyatt!
Sedona- Bakari, thank you for sitting down with me.
Bakari- No problem at all, Sedona, thanks for having me.
(Sedona smiles)- Ok, let’s get started. Tell my readers about you?
Bakari- I’m 23 years old, born and raised out of Wardens Ridge, got a twin sister, a great mom who raised my sister and I on her own. Graduated from Jones Hills State University with my B.A in English, with a minor in business marketing.
Sedona-Wow, that’s amazing. If you weren’t playing football, what would you be doing?
Bakari- Well, not playing football wasn’t an option for me. No matter what, I was going to play professionally. Later in life, though, I want to have my own magazine, but I don't know what kind though. I used to read the ones my mom collected as a kid growing up and I still collect a good bit of them now.
Sedona- Dope! I liked that you had a dream and stuck with it.
I see here in my notes that you didn’t start out at JHSU, though. You originally got a full ride at Zhara State University?
(Bakari laughs)- Yeah, that was my dream school too, but something happened to where I had to transfer after my sophomore year.
Sedona- Would that have to do with your past gang life that people are gossiping about?
Bakari- Ok let me settle this right now. Do I know gang members, yes, I do; living in Wardens Ridge, you can’t help but know a few of them. However, my mother, Brooke Ashanti Woods, would have killed my ass if I ended up in one.
(Ms. Woods in the background) -You damn right I would have!!
(Sedona nods)- Listen, I get it. Don’t want drama, just asking the questions my readers would want to know.
Bakari- Well, for your readers, they could find out when they read the book. But what I will say is that the members I do know never pressured me to get into the lifestyle.
Sedona- Fair. Now that you’re officially drafted on the Amethyst Falls Jags, congrats once again; what is one thing you would like the fans to know?
Bakari- Thank you. That I’m a hard player, I don’t like to lose, actually I hate it, so expect a lot of wins on top of me just being a fun person. I know it’s not gonna be easy, especially transitioning into a huge league like the NFL, but I know I’m built for it. The reason Mr. Martin, Coach Omari, & Mr. Hayward drafted me.
Sedona- Ok then! I love that answer; I saw your highlights from college. You’re an amazing player. Got me wanting to switch teams for the moment. (Sedona giggles.)
(Bakari chuckles)- Come on over to the winning team!
Sedona- I don’t know about that one just yet. My dad plus my boyfriend would probably disown me (Sedona laughs)
Sedona- Before we leave, though, I have one more question. Is it true that you used to date Aren Martin’s youngest daughter, Taylor?
(Bakari swipes his hand over his face.) -Yeah, it’s true. We dated for a year.
(Sedona nods)
Sedona- Well, Bakari, thank you for your time and good luck this season!
Bakari- You’re not gonna ask questions about that?
